The Situation
Eight Roads Ventures is a global venture capital firm backed by Fidelity that helps entrepreneurs scale. They back and partner with game-changing technology and healthcare companies. With a presence in China, Europe, India and Japan, their global platform has 50+ years of venture investing experience, $8bn in AUM, over 300 portfolio companies and 60+ IPOs.
Despite an established talent team they had struggled to find a contract Chief Technology Officer to strip out and rebuild their global Technology teams before handing over to a permanent hire.
Our Approach
The Syncopate team initiated the project by meeting with all key stakeholders, HR and recruitment teams to understand their requirement and develop an appropriate recruitment strategy.
This strategy was then aligned with the latest talent market insights to support the creation of individual role profiles and attraction tactics required to identify suitable candidates for each role.
Through the deployment of an embedded Account Director, the candidate sourcing phase was kicked off, working in tandem with the Senior Management Team to review and assess the suitability of candidate shortlists.
This process proved to be highly effective as it considerably increased the pace of the selection process – with hiring managers able to provide almost instant feedback and book interviews directly into their diaries.
Our Goal
- To Hire a CTO for the business to grow the technology function on a global scale
- Collaborate with their stakeholders to identify what and who was needed within there business to enable the best market fit.
- Establish what the plan and vision was for the growth in the technology within the business.
Our Results
- Successfully hired a CTO from a competitor, who was taken on a contract basis while the project was being stratagised before being taken on permanently to take the role on a global scale.
- Further collaborations were made with another part of the group for more senior hires in the UK and India.
- Secured a retained mandate from the interaction with the stakeholders and successfully completed the mandate to recruit a COO for EMEA region of the business.
